The ‘Direct Taxes Professionals Association’ (DTPA) has extended the date of submission of tax audit report under Section 44AB of Income Tax from Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to February 28 and the deadline for filing income tax returns for the assessment year 2020-21 in audit cases March 31, 2020.

This includes individual taxpayers. The rest are mostly companies where tax audit is required. There is a demand to increase its level. The deadline for filing personal income tax returns is December 31. The Association of Professionals has also demanded to extend the deadline for announcing the dispute under the trust scheme from 31 December 2020 to 28 February 2021.
